Backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, NCUSIF insures the accounts of millions of account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions. Greater Minnesota is a qualified state-chartered credit union.

Basic Facts for NCUA Insurance:
- Members' accounts are insured up to $100,000
- Includes funds in share, checking, money markets, and share certificate (CD) accounts
- IRAs insured separately up to $250,000
- There is no charge to GMCU members for share insurance protection
- Individual accounts with same accountholder are totaled and insured up to $100,000
- Joint accounts are insured separately from individual accounts up to $200,000
